OLM's ESCR Solution

In line with the ESCR requirements laid out in 2003 by the Department of Health, CareFirst, OLM's case management system provides the ability to store coded data, structured data and unstructured data enabling local authorities to achieve ESCR compliance.

Supported by workflow and a performance management framework CareFirst delivers a multi-functional system that effectively presents a truly holistic view of a client’s record, irrespective of data type, bringing together all relevant information for a practitioner in one place.

CareFirst enables unstructured data to be captured using a fully integrated client centric document store, accessed by practitioners via the CareFirst desktop. We have worked closely with Captaris to integrate CareFirst with the industry standard Alchemy document management software and the integrated document store upholds the requirements of social care data security. In contrast to the security limitations of corporate document management systems, each practitioner's role-based security parameters are maintained across CareFirst, including the integrated document store. For each individual client, access to documents containing highly sensitive social care information can be restricted to specific teams or practitioners, delivering adherence to the Caldicott principals. Uniquely the integrated document store provides practitioners with a flexible text search facility across a client’s documents, including handwritten documents.

OLM are aware that the ESCR requirements are under review by the Department of Health and are fully committed to continuing to provide our customers with an ESCR solution in line with statutory requirements.
