30-03-09 Personalisation at the heart of South Lanarkshire Council
30 Mar 2009
Through partnership and collaborative working, South Lanarkshire Council aims to build on its current success by continuing to shift the way that adult and children's social care is provided to its service users. To facilitate this challenging transition, South Lanarkshire Council has joined OLM Group's personalisation partnership programme.
OLM Group is working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council on a number of initiatives to transform the way it works. The projects will focus on using personal budgets to assist young people in transition and their families to plan for adulthood, and personalising the approach to older people enabling them to live independently.
Harry Stevenson, executive director, South Lanarkshire Council comments: "The Council is certainly at the forefront of new developments, and we are eager to engage further with our citizens and enable them to have more control for their own support. For South Lanarkshire Council, personalisation is a priority and as such we are pleased to be working in partnership with OLM Group. With its extensive experience of personalisation from an English perspective, OLM Group has been able to tailor its service to the Scottish social care services and meet South Lanarkshire's requirements."
This partnership allows South Lanarkshire Council to share knowledge, success and learning with other local authorities across the UK that are registered on the programme as Sam Newman, personalisation programme director at OLM Group explains: "Through working in partnership with OLM Group we will help South Lanarkshire Council deliver important and lasting change, work collaboratively with experts and share best practice."
Newman continues: "There is a clear need for a fundamental change in the way that adult and children's social care services are delivered. Personalisation is seen as a key driver in the shaping of all public services, with a growing public expectation that services will meet their needs and help them achieve personal goals and aspirations."
"OLM Group collaborates with a number of local authorities, and our latest partnership with South Lanarkshire Council demonstrates our commitment to personalisation and highlights our strength in adapting our skills and offerings to the Scottish market."
